How it works

What you can log

Keep entries consistent so theyโ€™re easy to search, compare, and cite.

Study or report

Add a clear title and link to research on water use, grid impacts, emissions, land use, or economic claims.

News or public record

Log articles, filings, meeting minutes, contracts, subsidy announcements, and procurement details to help follow the money.

Community account

Capture firsthand experiences and local impactsโ€”noise, water pressure changes, rate increases, construction disruption, and more.

Policy or legislation

Track bills, regulatory actions, and utility proceedings that shift costs to communities or enable buildouts.

Data quality

Log it so others can use it

Strong entries make the database more useful for residents, researchers, journalists, and policymakers.

Use descriptive titles

Include the place, company, or issue so entries are easy to scan and de-duplicate.

Link to primary sources

Prefer original documents, official filings, and direct reporting whenever possible.

Logging FAQ

Quick answers for contributors and readers.

Who can submit entries?

Only approved contributors can submit new entries. If youโ€™d like to help, request access and share why youโ€™re interested.

What fields are required?

Each entry should include a Title, a Topic, and a Source URL.

Can I create a new topic?

Yesโ€”contributors can create a new topic while logging an entry when an existing topic doesnโ€™t fit.

What makes a good source URL?

Use a stable link to the original source (PDF, docket, official page, or the publisherโ€™s article page). Avoid shortened links when possible.

Should I log duplicates?

Try searching first. If a source is already logged, consider adding a related source under the same topic instead.

Is my submission public immediately?

Entries are intended for the public library, but availability may depend on site configuration and contributor permissions.
