Why this resource exists

A public, searchable place to organize research and first hand accounts about hyperscale AI data center buildouts and their impacts on rural U.S. communities. I have witnessed there is a need for this. It’s all happening so fast, it’s mind numbing.

Mission

The intent of this website is to document the economic and environmental strain on humanity and our natural resources related to the building of hyperscale AI data centers in rural and farming communities across the United States. We share links to pertinent studies and real-life experiences, with the goal of helping people make informed decisions based on facts โ€” not empty promises.

What you’ll find here: This site also tracks which tech companies and partners financially benefit from these buildouts through taxpayer-funded subsidies and government contracts. We aim to follow the money trail and document related policies and legislation that shift costs to communities โ€” such as utility infrastructure upgrades required to power these facilities.

Why it matters

Long-term costs, documented

We consider the long-term costs to the earth and humanity, including the critical minerals required to build and maintain these centers and the downstream impacts on communities and resources.
